artists reflect on their immigrant roots in 'Artists Without Borders'
After coming to the U.S. to earn her master of fine arts degree, Xiaohong Zhang was offered a teaching position at UW-Whitewater in 2002. Originally from Hubei, China, Zhang decided to stay and pursue her American Dream. “To me, ‘American Dream’ means life, liberty, opportunity and equality,” said Zhang, now a professor of art and design at UW-Whitewater.

The goal of this project is to use contemporary aesthetics to explore the sensori-emotional values of Dunhuang art. Artist will work with a dancer Ying Xu to capture her Dunhuang dance and apply her motion into the 3D ribbons by using our recent updated OptiTrack motion capture system. At the same time, the artist will input datas about Dunhuang, such as the time and age of important events, and explore the unexpected effects and artistic vision through the random operation of the processing program.
